Pevely, MO (June 7, 2008) A big field of 134 racecars filled the pit area at I-55 Raceway on a very hot and humid evening. Twenty-nine UMP DIRTcar Late Models were on hand and Randy Korte of Highland, IL was back to compete for the first time since a back injury in February sidelined him. Korte looked stronger than ever as he swept the night's racing events by winning his heat race, the dash and the main event. Korte took the lead at the drop of the green flag and was never seriously challenged in the twenty-five lap main event for the lead. Tim Manville was able to get close as they worked lapped traffic, but Korte would once again pull away once he got cleared of the lapped cars. Korte would take the win by six car lengths over Manville. Mark Faust, making his first visit of 2008 to I-55 Raceway, would have a solid night and come home with a third place finish. Mark Voigt would take the fourth spot with Ken Rumble completing the top five.

Dirt Trackers Unite at NASCAR Stars’ Tracks for 6th Annual Tri-Track Challenge |
By Michelle Petroff
MACON, IL (May 26, 2008) - Three Midwestern dirt tracks owned by a group of NASCAR’s most prominent names are preparing to host an exciting weekend of racing with the “6th Annual Tri-Track Challenge”.
The “Tri-Track Challenge” was a unique concept that debuted in 2002 and offered three back-to-back nights of UMP Late Model competition, all on different track surfaces, and a hefty $10,000 bonus to any competitor who could win two of three events. Dirt racing standout Shannon Babb of nearby Moweaqua, IL, dominated all three events en route to his $40,000 weekend paycheck. Since that inaugural season, the first weekend in June has continued to draw some of the most popular names in UMP/Northern Allstar Late Model competition including last year’s winners.

Pevely, MO (May 3, 2008) On an unusually cold night in May, a great field of 120 racecars were on hand at I-55 Raceway to do battle on the high banked 1/3 mile dirt oval.
Two time and defending I-55 Raceway UMP DIRTcar Late Model Champion Bryan Collins of Elsberry, MO captured his second victory of 2008. Collins and Rusty Griffaw had a great battle for the lead during the first half of the main event, but Collins would pull away in the closing laps to claim the victory. The event was marred by a lap two crash in turn three that ended the night for several top competitors who had great runs in their qualifying heat races. The melee started when Dewayne Kiefer got into the back Dave Jumper at the end of the back stretch sending him spinning into turn three. The ensueing crash collected Tim Ratajczyk, Kevin Epperson, Dylan Sharp and Rich Lawson.

Billy Faust
Pevely, MO (April 26, 2008) A huge field of 132 racecars filled the pit area in I-55 Raceway's four divisions. Twenty-seven competitors entered the UMP DIRTcar Late Model division and it was Billy Faust of Lebanon, Illinois grabbing the win. After the pill draw for heat race starting spots, Faust found himself starting dead last in the first heat race. But Faust worked the traffic superbly and worked his way up to a third place finish in his heat. With the passing point system, that great heat race run gave him a second row starting spot in the dash. Faust would then power his way to victory in the dash. Faust would start the feature event from the pole position, but would have his hands full throughout the event with Mark Voigt and Tim Manville. Manville would keep the heat on Faust in the early laps, but as the laps began to wind down, Voigt moved past Manville and took to a higher line and reeled in Faust in lapped traffic. Voigt would pull along side Faust on a couple of occassions but couldn't make the pass. Faust, Voigt and Manville would provide a great three way finish as they worked heavy lapped traffic as twenty-six cars actually started the feature and twenty-four of those cars took the checkered flag. Faust would hold on and take the win, with Voigt taking second and Manville third. Dewayne Kiefer and Rodney Melvin completed the top five.
